Capture Anything

With SnagIt, capturing anything on your screen is one click away. At the same time, SnagIt is powerful enough to handle all of your custom capture needs.

Region Capture

Select a specific rectangular region of the screen that you want to capture. Quickly capture an image, or part of a Web page, to edit and share.

Scrolling Window Capture

Capture all of the contents of any window or Web page that has a scrollbar. SnagIt automatically scrolls the window during the capture, so you get all of the images and text in the window. This capture mode is perfect for saving those long articles you find online for easy reference later.

Menu Capture

Capture a single menu or cascading (multiple-layer) menus from Windows applications. This mode is particularly valuable for those who work in technical support or documentation.

Video Capture

Capture video of your own desktop activity. With SnagIt in this mode, you can make quick tutorial videos to share with others.

Text Capture

Capture text from your screen — especially text that you can't easily copy and paste. Using this mode, you can also capture file lists from Windows Explorer, and the lists become editable. This is a convenient technique for creating lists of tracks from CDs that you have stored digitally, for example.

Web Page Capture

Enter a URL and automatically capture all of the images, video and audio files from a Web site. In this capture mode, you can also choose the file types (.doc, .ppt, .xls, etc.) you want to download from the site.

Capture Profiles

Choosing the capture options for complex tasks can be time-consuming. But, if you use a certain combination of capture settings often, you can save them in a custom profile. There are few default profiles installed with SnagIt to get you started, and it's easy to create new ones. You can even assign a keyboard (hotkey) combination to each of your profiles, keeping your most common captures right at your fingertips.

Pre-Capture Effects

If you know before you take your captures that you want them to have a particular border or a certain resolution, you can select these options from SnagIt's Effects menu before you take the capture. Then, after capture, the effects will be automatically applied. This is a great way to quickly get a consistent look across repeated captures.

Edit and Add Effects

SnagIt’s powerful built-in Editor lets you crop, resize, adjust color, add text and apply custom effects without ever opening another editing application.

Share Easily

SnagIt makes it easy to share your captures in print, by e-mail, by instant messenger, or on the Web

- Smarter Editing of Objects and Text

With SnagIt’s powerful Editor at your fingertips, there’s no need to open another application to add the finishing touches to your captures. SnagIt 8’s Editor has been enhanced to include vector editing, so the callouts, arrows, shapes and text that you place on your capture remain editable. You can reselect any object you’ve previously placed on the capture to delete or edit it anytime. Save time making your images look exactly the way you want them to, the first time. Later, you can come back and modify those images for different audiences, or update them with new information, without going through the hassle of taking additional screen captures.

- Capture Web Pages with Links

Now you can capture a Web page with SnagIt and all of the links remain clickable. Use SnagIt to capture the part of the Web page that has the links you want to keep intact. Then, save the capture in a format that supports embedded links: Web page with image (.mht), Adobe PDF, (.pdf) or Macromedia Flash (.swf). The links will be embedded in the capture and clickable, just as they were on the original Web page. Send the capture by email and simply indicate where to click.

- Add Interactivity to your Captures

With SnagIt’s new hotspot feature, adding interactivity is easy. Capture an image, and then use SnagIt’s hotspot feature to specify parts of the image that, when moused over, will display text or images, or when clicked upon, will open a Web page. Add helpful hints and explanatory illustrations, or even create a functioning prototype of a Web page. Because textual comments only appear when hovered over, the entire image doesn’t end up cluttered with text.
