Download speeds are increased further by choosing the fastest mirror sites. You may automatically resume broken downloads if your connection is lost or if your computer accidentally shuts down. With the scheduler, you can download files at certain times of the day. Star Downloader may also automatically connect to your ISP and hang-up upon completion of downloads. To help you organize and manage your downloads there is an advanced category system and an integrated unzipping utility can automatically unzip and install downloaded files. Star Downloader also integrates with your antivirus program to automatically scan files upon completion of the download. Star Downloader supports FTP and HTTP. Proxy is also supported. The clean and simple interface of Star Downloader and the multilingual support for over 50 languages makes it easy for everyone to use! Planned/Suggested Features -= Browser Integration =- Support for Firefox v1.5. Toolbar for Internet Explorer to easily add downloads and/or send files to leecher. It should be optional so that the user can choose whether to show it or not. Add configuration possibility for the "Ignore URL" list. Add right-click option in IE: "Associate filetype with Star Downloader" -= Compression =- Add possibility to download parts of a ZIP archive. -= Dial-up Connections =- Reconnect if connection is broken (optional). Countdown window with cancel button on "Disconnect After Download". Automatically detect current ISP for modem users. This is convenient if a user has several ISPs that he alternates between. Now you have to configure which one every time. -= Downloads =- Add possibility to have a different "split-number" for downloads within certain ranges of size. For example; maybe you want 10 for a 600Mb file but only 3 for a 6Mb one. The ability to increase/decrease the number of parts of a download in progress. Synchronize an ftp folder with a local. Possibility to add several downloads at once and also more links to existing downloads. Also be able to change URL under properties. LAN Downloads. Add configuration possibilty to set user/pass for individual sites. Option to preserve date on downloaded files. Get cookies from browsers and use them when downloading. This can be useful when you need to be logged in to download from a server. Improve proxy settings to enable more advanced forms of authentication. The ability to set a default password for FTP downloads. Add support for MMS. Add support for RTSP/RTP. -= General =- File Descriptions/Comments The ability to save file comments in an extra file or to export it. Possibility to include the descriptions in the saved filename. This is useful when you have setup files or similar with the same names. Console window to monitor http/ftp commands à la many ftp clients. View log of download, so you can check what is going on, in case of errors. Countdown window with cancel button when SD is about to shutdown the computer (when "Shutdown on Downloads Completed" option is selected). Import/Export of filelists in main program and leecher. Sum: 102 In addition to the internal format it would be nice with support for others such as: * Text file with one URL per row. accept some form of reg. exp.: http://www.test.com/*.a[0-9][0-9] * Playlist with "remote songs" (m3u, pls, etc.). * HTML file. Possibility to move files (on harddrive). Improve category definition. Define categories not only on file extention but on any substring in filename or URL. Allow to change category of file during download (not only drag & drop). Maybe also allow exceptions to the category rules, for example "treat .exe files from stardownloader.com differently than other .exe files". Remove the need to restart program when changing language. The ability to mimic popular browser user agents and set custom values. Sounds for different events like "Starting Download", "Download Finished", "All Downloads Finished", "Modem Disconnected" etc. "Recreate Server Path" in addition to "Date Folders". -= GUI =- Customizable button bar. Optional download speed graph in the main window. New columns in downloads list: * Url * Average Transfer Speed * Server * Time Elapsed * % done Always on top option. Organize choices under Options in a better way. Today it's hard to find what you're looking for. Divide into nodes such as "Appearance" with subnodes for related things; "Colors", "Button Size" etc. Two differents colors for paused and queue files. Will make things clearer. Add "Open File" and "Open Folder" to right-click menu in downloads list. Filter function to show a subset of the items in the current file list. For example *.gif with a size between 10kb and 20kb etc. Add a "Don't show this dialog anymore" checkbox in Downloading windows. -= Install/Uninstall =- Add possibility to select wanted language during installation in addition to the option in the program. -= Leecher =- Add support for FTP. New program icon. -= Queue System / Scheduler =- If a download fails, try the other queued files before re-attemping the download. A way to reorder files in queue. Change the system so different statuses are more intuitive and useful. A file can be: * In progress - downloading now. * Paused - not downloaded until explicitly restarted. * Queued - download as soon as a download slot is free. Choice to "apply executable" on downloads. This is good for example if you often download certain files that you want to process with some other application. Priority system for files and categories. Allow files to be scheduled individually. Recurrent downloads function (download a file with a certain interval). Force download start (eg hold ctrl click resume) to start downloads that are over the normal queue limit.
