İddialara göre "Windows 9" kod adı verilen bir sonraki Windows'un adı, Windows.next veya Windows vNext de olabilir. İnternetin farklı köşelerinden bir araya getirilen Microsoft çalışanlarına ait bazı bilgilere göre Microsoft, Windows 9'un planlama ve geliştirme aşamasını başlatmış durumda. Bu bilgilerin ve yukarıda gördüğünüz e-postanın kaynağı ise MsftKitchen adındaki web sitesi. Win8China web sitesinin söyledikleri ise yukarıdaki bilgilerle biraz çelişiyor. Bu web sitesine göre de Microsoft, yeni jenerasyon bir Windows üzerinde çalışmalarını başlatmış bulunuyor. Ancak Win8China, yeni işletim sisteminin isminin Windows Blue olacağını iddia ediyor. Bir kaynağa göre ise "Windows Blue" adının Windows 9'un bir alt bileşeni olması muhtemel. Henüz Windows 8'in final sürümü piyasaya sürülmeden Windows 9 hakkında konuşmak için tabi ki fazlasıyla erken. Ancak Win8China yeni işletim sisteminin "yakın gelecekte" ortaya çıkacağı konusunda ümitli. While we had little doubt that Windows 9 was already in the planning/development stages, Microsoft employees are wasting no time and are wearing Windows 9 as a badge of honor. But, this source is saying that Windows 9 is being called Windows Blue, or will have a sub-component by the code-name Windows Blue (translation confusion). Further, the Windows Blue moniker is said to be a new base for the Windows platform too.
